Russia international Golovin has emerged as one of the breakout stars at this summer’s World Cup.
The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to
Arsenal , as they seek to find a replacement for Jack Wilshere.
Although a deal is in the pipeline for Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira, Unai Emery is supposedly keen on Golovin.
Chelsea meanwhile, are yet to formally get their transfer business underway.
There was previously uncertainty about who would replace Antonio Conte, but with Maurizio Sarri waiting in the wings to succeed him, the Blues could start to make headway in the window.
However, according to Goal, the Blues are closing in on a deal for the 22-year-old.
Juventus have also been credited with an interest, but the west London side, the report adds, held positive talks with the player’s representatives.
It is also suggested that Chelsea could meet CSKA Moscow’s £27million asking price for Golovin.
With the Blues seemingly in the driving seat, Goal claims Juventus believe their chances of signing him are over.
Chelsea, who finished fifth in the Premier League last term, have other signings in mind.
Kalidou Koulibaly is a key target as the club seek a replacement for David Luiz who looks likely to depart.
