Chelsea are reportedly closing in on Arsenal French striker Oliver Giroud after both London clubs agreed on a £18million fee for the French man, according to reports Arsenal are an inch closer to the completion of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s transfer to the Emirates Stadium from Borrusia Dortmund.

The Blues were initially interested in signing any of  Peter Crouch, Tottenham Hotspur’s Fernando Llorente or AS Roma’s Edin Dzeko, although after Chelsea attempts to land the former Manchester City striker Bosnian attacker were rebuffed by the Giallorossi, their attention was promptly swayed towards Oliver Giroud and it appears as though they’ve finally succeeded in getting a striker to compete with Alvaro Morata.

Giroud could be playing his last match for the Gunners this night as he was included in the north-Londoners’ match-day squad to face Swansea City on Tuesday night Premier League football.

Dortmund could also benefit from Aubameyang’s imminent move to Arsenal, outside the big money they will receive from Arsenal, the prospect of landing Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea to fill the Gabon international’s void could become a reality, after learning of the Belgian’s potential availability.

Batshuayi has failed to make a mark on Antonio Conte’s team, he always face criticism from the blues faithful for his lack of movement and positioning, and with the Italian boss keen to provide the 24-year-old Belgian international with a fresh start on a temporary basis, a mid-season transfer to the Signal Iduna Park could rejuvenate his stalling career, a move which would complete a surprising interlinking transfer between the three relevant clubs.

When asked in a press conference about the Oliver Giroud imminent move to Chelsea from Arsenal, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte said: “I give my opinion to the club and then they try to do their best in the transfer market.

“I can speak about specific characteristics of players and how we can improve.

“But we are talking about players of other teams and must continue to have respect.”
