Manchester City star Leroy Sane believes that Chelsea magnificent player Eden Hazard is up there with Lionel Messi, hailing them as footballers ‘no one else can currently compete with’.
The German forward was asked if he feels he is on the same level with Messi, Leroy has been in sensational form so far this season with Manchester City, he has scored 7 Premier League goals and assisted 10.
Sane does not see himself as a top top player yet, according to him Messi, Neymar, Hazard and Cristiano Ronaldo are the best players in the world right now and nobody can take that away from them.
Speaking to German newspaper Welt, Sane said: ‘No, I’m still not at their level right now. They are class apart In the whole world only few players are there.
‘Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar and Hazard are on a level no one else can operate on, Ozil and Cavani are phenomenal, too.
‘I’m not in their category yet. I play with freedom, I mainly need fun. I don’t set specific goals for the game, I just let things happen its way, once I set my mind everything else just happens.’
Surprisingly, none of Leroy Sane’s teammates made Sane’s list, despite the astounding form of Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne this season.
Sane also disclosed how a phone call from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola made him turn down Bayern Munich and to England to join City from Schalke.
He said: ‘When Pep called me and told me he wants me on his team, I immediately knew, I had followed him closely at his time at Barcelona and at Bayern, and I played against his Bayern Munich team when I was with Schalke. I acknowledged that he makes every player around him a better player.
‘I also asked Joshua Kimmich about Guardiola after his call. He told me: “Leroy if Guardiola is interested in you and wants you on his team, do it.”
