Former Italy midfielder and World Cup winner Andrea Pirlo was asked about who he thinks will win the World Cup Golden Boot at this year’s event in Russia.
As expected the legendary Pirlo picked the two finest players in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, before adding Tottenham and England talisman Harry Kane.
Kane was the top scorer across Europe in 2016 with 56 goals, outscoring both Messi and Ronaldo in the process, the first time an Engish player achieved that feat for a long time, He’s expected to lead the attack for the Three Lions in the coming World Cup, England has struggled in front of goal in both of their last two outings, but the World Cup winner believes with Kane they will have much better luck than before.
” I think there are expected names: from Messi to Ronaldo and Kane,” he told Goal.
”The most important thing is that its good entertainment.
Still, when asked who could win the World tournament, he omitted Portugal and England from his answer.
”There are numerous of teams that can win it: Germany, Brazil, Argentina then maybe some underdog teams like Belgium or any team,” but it will be a competitive tournament.
“I wish an African team or a team from the Americas like Panama or Peru can win the World Cup, so let’s see.”
